Little Flowers is a Catholic club for girls, helping them grow in holiness one virtue at a time. The girls learn each virtue through Scripture, the lives of the saints, and the teaching of the Church, and they earn badges as they put those virtues into practice.
Here at Ss. Peter and Paul in Mankato, the club is run by the moms, for the girls. Each family helps lead one month and brings snacks for another, so every meeting is covered together.
About the Club
Little Flowers Girls' Club has formed young Catholic girls for more than thirty years. It takes its name and spirit from St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower, who taught that holiness is found in doing small things with great love.
Each gathering is built around a single virtue. The girls hear how a saint lived that virtue, talk about what it looks like in their own lives, and take home a small way to practice it. Girls earn badges as they grow, a little like scouting, but through the eyes of the Faith.
Our Year Together
We meet once a month in the Parish Hall, from 9:30 to 11:00 in the morning, September through May. Each meeting has its own virtue, patron saint, and flower:
September: Zeal, with St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop
October: Acceptance, with St. Josephine Bakhita
November: Docility, with St. Gianna Molla
December: Unselfishness, with St. Theresa of the Andes
January: Fidelity, with St. Anna Wang
February: Kindness, with St. Marie Marguerite d'Youville
March: Confidence, with St. Clelia Barbieri
April: Endurance, with St. Rose-Philippine Duchesne
May: Silence and Recollection, with St. Genoveva Torres Morales
Because the club is led by the moms, each family helps lead one month and brings snacks for another. You will choose your months when you register.
Ages and Fees
Girls take part by grade:
Little Buds, Pre-K and Kindergarten: $10
Little Flowers, 1st through 4th grade: $27
Golden Roses, 5th through 7th grade: $27 returning, $36 new
Our Lady's Honor Guard (CCC), 8th through 12th grade: fee to be announced
